Supplies and tools:
Paperbilities Card stock in different colors, Forever in time floral embellishments, Alphabet stencil, "Forever in time" Eyelets, brown ribbon, photo anchors, Sticker King gold colored foil stickers, (I use a craft knife to remove the stickers), Victorian clip-art free from Hubpages, Speedball elegant writer Felt Tip Pen with scroll point, small scissors, Photos, "Make it Special" mounting squares, "Forever in time" gold colored photo corners, "Forever in time" anchors, rubber stamps for logo and date, Ink-pads, Ruler, scissors, pencils, erasers, etc.
I used a Fiskars® paper trimmer, which I use with each layout.
I also used a light-box, for the title and captions, which you can see here. You can also use a plastic see through grid for the title. Here is mine. You can print one on a transparency, remember to use the transparency setting on your computer.
Techniques: Inked edges: Scroll down to see how Ali Edwards does it.

Notes: To fit three photos next to each other on a 12 x 12 page, print the photos 3 x 5 instead of 5 x 7. The mats are about 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" , which leaves a small gap for the background to show through. I have found that black and white photos print better on mat paper. My grandmother (My Ouma) is in every photo, do you recognize her? My Dad is also in some of the photos. I love it how serious almost everyone looks in the photos, but I do find it very interesting to see what they wore and looked like. I wonder what they would think of today's casual photos.

"A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer. " - Wikipedia
