We dry camped at Sooke Potholes Provincial Park for about three days, during our Vacation. We had glorious hot and sunny weather. We found the campsite clean and very quite, especially at night.

Sooke Potholes Provincial Park provides access to the series of deep, polished rock pools and potholes carved naturally into the bedrock of the Sooke River. This area is a favourite day-use destination for many local and regional residents.

"Glacial action during the last ice age 15,000 years ago is responsible for the formations, as the moving, melting ice packs stripped the surface area and carved a path deep into the natural bedrock. Huge boulders carried along by the rushing river became lodged, were swirled against the canyon walls and consequently carved out the potholes that can be seen today.

The water in this very popular park is beautifully clean and clear, providing a wonderful swimming and picnicking destination in the summer. The Sooke River is also an important coho and Chinook salmon spawning river, and opportunities exist for catch and release fishing. Coastal Celebration

We took the B.C Ferry Coastal Celebration from Vancouver (Tsawwassen) traveling between the Southern Gulf Islands to Victoria (Swartz Bay) on Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day. It is the second time that we have taken this ferry, please see Tsawwassen Ferry.

We visited our son, daughter in law and grandchild in Vancouver, B.C. on our Vacation and had a wonderful dinner at One More Sushi, a Japanese Restaurant. I had a Bento box with Shrimp Tempura, Yam Tempura, Teriyaki Chicken, fruit, salad, California Rolls and B.C. Rolls.

"Blackie Spit Park located in the Crescent Beach borough of Surrey, British Columbia lies on the shores of Boundary Bay. The unique flatlands habitat sees over two hundred species of birds living around or migrating through annually.

The Park is named after Walter Blackie who was also New Westminster's first blacksmith and previously owned this section of Crescent Beach. The Spit is composed mostly of gravel with grassy and marshy brush further up from the shoreline. Its unique composition was formed during the last ice age and shaped by centuries of erosion from the tidal activity of Boundary Bay. " - Blackie Spit Park

"A spit or sandspit is a deposition landform found off coasts. At one end, spits connect to land, while at the far end they exist in open water.^[1] A spit is a type of bar or beach that develops where a re-entrant occurs, such as at cove's headlands, by the process of longshore drift. Longshore drift (also called littoral drift) occurs due to waves meeting the beach at an oblique angle, and backwashing perpendicular to the shore, moving sediment down the beach in a zigzag pattern. Longshore drifting is complemented by longshore currents, which transport sediment through the water alongside the beach. These currents are set in motion by the same oblique angle of entering waves that causes littoral drift and transport sediment in a similar process.^{[2]" - Wikipedia}

We stayed at Hazelmere RV Park near White Rock in B.C. for the first and last few days of our Vacation.

"This seaside community is clustered around an eight kilometer sandy beach and the warm shallow waters of Semiahmoo Bay and is flanked on the south by the Canada/US border and Blaine, Washington." "White Rock Beach is famous for its 1,500 ft. long pier, its 2.5km long beach promenade and of course the large white rock which weighs in at 486 tons and is a glacial deposit from the coastal range." - Whiterockonline

The first time we had a full hook-up and the second time we had a partial hook-up. The park is quite, with a pool, hot tub, laundry, pond, creek, playground, washrooms, off leash dog area, mini golf, free wireless, etc. More photos coming soon.

Stephen, under the Trans-Canada Highway, across the Kicking Horse River and into the Lower Spiral Tunnel in Mt. Ogden. It spirals to the left up inside the mountain for 891-m and emerges 15-m higher. The train then crosses back over the Kicking Horse River, under the highway a second time and into the 991-m tunnel in Cathedral Mountain. We bought a Dutchmen Sport Travel Trailer (185 DB) ( Caravan) and went on a trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Apparently the Caravans don't come with Melamine crockery, like those of my childhood in South-Africa, so we had to pack it quickly.

Our next adventure

I hardly had time to Google (Googel in Afrikaans ;-) ) what and how to pack, but we didn't do too badly. Nothing serious broke, my clothes on hangers only fell down once, despite climbing a curb or two, speed-bumps, bad roads, detours and road-works. (Tok dropped and broke one egg on the floor while we were standing still.)
